Indigenous Resistance
In the 1900’s, an Indian tribe lived on the
United States/Canada border [divided by.] They had to travel across the border
often because of many events, family, and etc. Many were sent to Canada to go
to the traditional school – with racial discrimination running very rapidly.
First, wow, it can’t even imagine, “racial discrimination.” Because of the
racial discrimination, many Salish Indian students were traumatized. The other ones were sent to America to
boarding schools. The article kept me intrigued; it made me think outside of
the box, being that I had heard of the Salish Indian, but never truly
understood what they had to endure. From the article I believe that we should
embrace different cultures! We are allowed to be “free, supposedly?” This is
America! The Land of the FREE, but those were not free, and truly many of us
till this day aren’t free.
